How does working with a travel advisor actually work?

It starts with a relaxed discovery conversation about who's going, where you're dreaming, and what you'd rather not think about. If we're a good fit, I'll send the appropriate engagement agreement and any applicable planning fee, and once that's in place, the planning begins. From there, I develop the recommendations, refine the journey with you, coordinate the booking details, prepare you for what comes next, and remain available throughout your travels. You get one trusted advisor from the first conversation until you're home, not a series of disconnected bookings.

Do you charge planning fees?

Not every booking involves a planning fee. Straightforward cruises and vacation packages often don't. For itineraries that require substantial custom research or complex multi-destination logistics, I use a planning fee to compensate for the professional work involved, research, design, and coordination that happens before anything is booked. I'll always explain the scope and fee before any work begins, so you can decide if it's the right fit.

Why book through you instead of directly online?

Booking online can absolutely work for simple, single-piece trips. But a confirmed reservation only tells you something was booked, not that it was the right choice, that the timing works, or that all the pieces actually fit together. My value isn't clicking the booking button for you, it's making sure you're booking the right trip, and that everything connects the way it should.

Do you help with accessibility and multigenerational trips?

Yes. I hold the IBCCES Certified Autism Travel Professional (CATP) credential, and as the mother of a child with special needs, this work is personal to me. I plan with an eye toward the details that aren't always obvious, whether that's pacing for a multigenerational group with different energy levels or preparing for needs that don't show up on a standard packing list. The same principle applies here as everywhere else I plan: I start with your family, not a generic accessibility checklist.
